Frequently Asked Questions
-
A marketing retainer is an ongoing agreement between your business and me where I provide a set range of services for a fixed monthly (or annual) fee.
-
Typically, your business and I would agree on a scope of work and a monthly fee. I will then provide the agreed-upon services each month, with ensuring that we review and adjust the scope as needed over time. I often have monthly or bi-monthly check-ins with my retainer clients to make sure we're on the same page with the work that needs to be done.
I work very well independently, so you would not need to be involved in the day-to-day, but rather get regular updates on progress and performance.
-
Services can vary widely but often include content creation, social media management, email marketing, SEO, advertising, website maintenance, strategy development, and analytics/reporting.
-
Benefits of a marketing retainer include consistent expertise, long-term strategy development, cost efficiency, priority access, flexibility, deep understanding of the business, and streamlined processes.
A longer term benefit is measured success of marketing performance over time, such as tracking steady growth in sales, website traffic, or customer engagement.
-
If your business needs ongoing marketing support, wants to build a long-term relationship with a marketer, and prefers predictable monthly costs, a retainer could be a good fit!
-
Yes! Retainers are very flexible, so we can make changes to the commitment based on changing business needs, goals, budget, and my availability.
It is not uncommon to change from 5 hours/week to 10 hours/week for a month or so when priorities shift.
-
Agreements really do vary, depending on your specific needs, but I commonly set retainers for 3-6 months, with options for renewal. This duration allows for more substantial progress. I've also worked with companies that commit to a full year!
